This was a really nice, interesting story and I was pleased to have taken the chance on purchasing it. The story is really well-written and easy-to-read, and the descriptive passage is excellent, so you really feel like you can see the characters and settings in your mind as you read. I liked how the novel is told from the perspective of the main character, through their eyes, as I find this writing style really helps you to get to know the characters well, and gives the storyline a sense of depth and emotion. The story is a romance, drama novel, and is perfect for readers who love well-written women’s literature that can easily be read over a weekend or while on vacation. I highly recommend this novel, and I am definitely interested in reading more of this author’s work.

You decide your own destiny, you chart your own lifes' course. If it's one thing that stands out to me is: a friends advice is good, but never allow them to make ultimate decisions in your life as it could be the one factor holding you back from true love. My favourite moment is how Sam discribes Cara upon first seeing her, he even had me ogling. Then when he stepped in to protect her from an unstable ex boyfriend....oooh who wouldn't want to feel such safety. Clear your calender and lay back in bed, this is another page turner! Waiting impatiently for part two. I loved it!!!

Dramatic, sexy, fun; are just the few terms used to describe Angles. Being a person who loves a good love story, Angles was a well-written and developed story! The chemistry between Sam and Cara was like "lighting the fires" of something real and passionate, and that couldn't be denied once witnessed.
Yet, as much as I loved reading the story, it frustrated the hell out of me-which is why I gave it a solid four-star rating. The author did a fantastic job at conveying the wayward emotions of different types of love that can be expressed toward a person. While reading, I simply couldn't help to adopt the stirring emotions throughout it. For example I was rooting for Sam, wanted Cara to make up her mind, just simply hated Jason, was completely enraged at Teddy, and applaud Anna who had the nerve to say what I was thinking the moment I had a quarter into the book read. With that being said, Angles was a great Chick-lit story that had well-developed characters which moved the story along perfectly to a happy, warm-hearted conclusion. I really liked it! It's an easy read that you can get into and become empathic to each character's perspective.

This is such a captivating story that hooks you from the very beginning. The author's descriptions of characters, experiences, and situations paint a very clear picture that I can't (and don't want to) get out of my head. I am not usually one for love stories but a friend recommended this to me and I am so glad I read it. I can't wait for part II and hopefully even more from this author!!!

When Sam first sees Cara, Sam's world is turned upside down. He is mesmerized by Cara's charm. Unable to speak with her, Sam does everything in his power to force a meeting with her. When Cara senses someone is watching her, her eyes drift to the powerful blue ones of Sam. One look and she's hooked. But can these two strangers overcome the obstacles in their lives to make this connection work?
"Every part of him is dark and smoky, except his eyes. His eyes are so bright, turquoise blue, they’re like headlights shining at me. A lighthouse warning me not to come too close or my boat will crash."
This is Erin's first novel, and I had the pleasure of reading this book! Erin put her heart and soul into Angles and it shows! Filled with heat, drama, twists and turns, Angles is worth the read!

Angels – is a story that shows what happens on the other side of the fence so as to speak. It has a woman and two male characters as the leads. And the more we get to learn about them we learn that they are messed up people. Cara is a woman who gets what she wants most of the time because her best buddy Teddy gives it to her. She sometimes comes across as a bit of a drama queen and spoiled princess. But the more we learn about her, our opinion changes. Sam is a man who is used to getting what he wants but when it comes to Cara he learns it isn’t going to be easy. We get a lot of interesting confrontation scenes when Sam and Teddy come face to face. They both want her but for entirely different reasons. Teddy sees a bad boy in Sam that he knows will break her heart while Sam sees Teddy as someone not allowing Cara to grow up. I definitely got caught up in their lives from the very first page. And I am excited to go on a new adventure with these characters.

If you're looking for the book to take on your next vacation, this is the one. It was a smooth, easy read - in the best possible way - and reminded me of Emily Giffin or Sophie Kinsella's writing in the world of chick lit. My adrenaline was pumping during the more suspenseful scenes, and my interest was more than piqued during the steamy tension that author Erin Lockwood crafted between characters Caralee and Sam. I had a tough time putting Angles down, and am already looking forward to Part II.

I loved it! A fun read with just the right amount of suspense and romance. I can't wait for Part II.

Holy cow, thank God I’m not in Cara’s shoes. I’m glad I don’t have to choose! I went into the story blind as I didn’t even bother reading the accompanying synopsis. The book itself did a fine job of outlining characters and events and you quickly pick up the mood of the story.
I am not going to repeat the story here but I found it unique and not one that is usually attempted in this genre. And for a love story there was a lot of mystery in the novel. All the time you are wondering about the true intentions of the characters. Even the lead ones aren’t immune to this scrutiny. With so many secrets between them, when these characters does come clean it creates a lot of emotional outbursts and it makes for good reading.
The book deals with different kinds of love – like love at first sight, unrequited love, second chances, pretending love for convenience, etc. The characters behaved as real people would and you will feel their hurt along with them. I can’t wait to read more.

I will rate this full five stars for the entertainment value alone.
Let me tell you something first, I don’t care a lot for contemporary romances and love triangles and such. But the review program that I am in rarely sends bad books to me and so I accepted this challenge. Angels was written by one Erin Lockwood, who it seems is a first time author. For a first timer she has done good work and has written a book that can be finished off in a single sitting.
I’m not going to summarize the book here again; you can read the description on the Amazon page. I will tell you this though; I thought the story line was unique. It was interesting to read about the lives of people with PTSD and other afflictions overcoming it to love each other.
If I have to nitpick, I would say that the author could have spent more time building the romance between Cara and Sam. Call me picky, but I wanted more development to these scenes.
I would recommend this book to everyone. It is a safe book. No unnecessary sex and violence in this one.

This book was a gift for an honest review.
In angels, first you are given Sam’s perspective and the time he first saw the woman Cara, he also mentions his past and animosity with Teddy. Then we change perspective and go into the life of Cara and we get to see how she functions. Her girl friends and she have a hilarious track in the book. We also get to see a unhealthy friendship between her and Teddy. Sam then makes a reappearance wooing Cara and this causes a lot of friction among the friends.
The book was beautifully written. Apart from the main characters it had other characters like her male friend whose name I have forgotten now, who even though is a flirt was a good friend to Cara. Jason was also another interesting character. There was a lot of mystery surrounding this guy. Will he make a comeback in the second book? I have a feeling he will!
I liked this book; I couldn’t always predict what was going to happen next. I would recommend this.

Angels had a wonderful story, and my only complaint with it was that it was way too short. I felt that it needed to just go on and on. Because that’s the kind of effect this novel will have on you once you begin reading it. There were many moments in the novel when it mirrored actual life moments that I had experienced in my life. So I found this an extremely relatable read. A woman with a fragile mind, an over protective best friend, a rich guy pursuing a girl till the ends of the earth - this novel has got it all. It was really cool how the characters took to each other. I’m glad the first book finished with some kind of closure and that the author didn’t put in an unnecessary cliffhanger. I enjoyed this one and I will definitely read the next book in the series. It will be good entertainment for my nights. Just go for this one people. You can’t go wrong with this!

This was Fantabulous! Erin has done it with her very first book.
Before reading the novel I thought to myself, this is an extremely popular genre. Will this new author be able to do justice to it? Will she be able to hold my interest level in it? Yes, she could! Right from the first chapter when we read about Sam King to the very last. Her characters grab hold of you and doesn’t let go. My heart was pounding excitedly every time Cara and Sam got together. Especially when they were in the house together. It was just wonderful. The tension and the expectations from that scene! There were a few laugh out loud scenes and I enjoyed these as well. The interactions between Cara and Theo were very interesting. They were like brother and sister. A weird sibling couple though. I read this late into the night to find out what happens next. I truly enjoyed this copy. The book has high semblance to real life situations and I can’t wait to read the next part.

This story was not the most original one out there but the author managed to make it likable through some deft writing. My only problem with the book was that the character of Cara was shown to be more dependent than necessary. She runs the risk of alienating a lot of readers. I wonder what will happen in the future stories. Can this trio stay together like this? Do they reconcile and become friends? Or will the author kill off one of them? If so, I know who it will be. And after you have finished reading the book you will too. Of course, that would further destroy Cara. So who knows what’s going to happen next. It is fun to read about characters like this. They aren’t perfect by any definition and their actions create a lot of interesting situations. I liked the author’s sense of humor and it reflected in the book. I didn’t have any major grouse with the book. It is a light and enjoyable read. I hope to get to know the characters better in the next book.

Angels. This book is the first book of a band new series by Ms Lockwood. I think it can rightfully be called YA fiction. It doesn’t have college kids, children with super powers and no vampires, werewolves etc but it has something even better. It has sexy and gorgeous people living their lives in the big city and dealing with falling in love and heartbreak. I loved the story line and did not stop reading until I came to the very last page in the book. I can’t wait to find out what happens to these people next. Lockwood has out done herself here and has proved that she is an author to be reckoned with. I am happy to learn that there will be more books in this series. I loved the characters. I thought they had great dignity and grace. I can’t wait to read more.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this novel. Apparently it’s the first book in a series and that is always a double edged sword. Sometimes they are just bad books and you end up hating them. Or you love them and look forward to the sequel work which may never come, once again frustrating you to no end. The blurb provided suggested that Angels would be a good romance story. And it was! It had a good story line and a short list of interesting characters. Erin has created memorable and sympathetic characters that will stay with you long after you’ve done reading the book. Guess we’ll have to wait for book number 2 to find out what happens next to Cara. Maybe we will also find out why Sam and Theo hate each other. The wait begins now!

First up I have to say that this was a sweet book. It had a familiar ring to it, but the story was different and the entire reading experience was highly interesting. I liked how the plot was gradually revealed. There are two men who are head over heels in love with a single woman. But their love is different and the way they show it to her is also different. And the woman finds it increasingly difficult to manage these two men in her life. So it was exciting to learn how the rest of their story would pan out from this point. The two men couldn’t be more different from one another in their physicality and their backgrounds and experiences, yet they were so similar in ways that they aren't even aware of. I know I am automatically supposed to love Sam but it was Teddy that I ended up liking more. And speaking about Cara, she is nothing like the girls you meet and yet is one amongst them. I got a huge kick out of her interactions with these two men. I won’t forget this novel easily.
MWB Review November 8, 2016
“A friend is someone who knows all about you and still loves you.” - Elbert Hubbard
Author Erin Lockwood’s novel ‘Angels: A love story’ introduces a close set of characters. This story is as old as life itself. When two people who are meant to be together – a fact that they both know, can’t still get together, what happens? Drama!
Light, playful and yet heart wrenching at times – this is a novel for all the true romantics.
Cara and Sam are destined for each other, we know it the first time we meet them, and everyone else seems to know it as well. But life constantly interrupts and prevents them from taking the next step.
It doesn’t help at all that Cara is in a codependent platonic relationship with Theo. Cara is forever the damsel in distress and Theo is the enabler who thrives on being needed all the time. When Sam enters the scene, it disrupts the equation between the two. But destiny is a funny thing, and by the time fate is done with these characters their lives will never be the same again.
This seems to be Erin Lockwood’s first venture into YA, and by all accounts this is a sensational debut! Caralee Lee (roll your eyes now!) is a young woman who like countless others is struggling to stay afloat in a weak economy. She lives the independent life and is constantly juggling her work, relationship and friendships. She is also anxiety prone; possibly brought on by a traumatic event she witnessed, and she is in a borderline unhealthy relationship with a male friend with whom she faced the traumatic event. Needless to say, this leaves room for all sorts of narrative possibilities and the author has taken an interesting run with this.
This isn’t your typical modern YA novel, although in the beginning it might give off that seen before-heard before kind of vibe. The more we read and the more we learn about Cara and Theo, you will realize that they are in many ways flawed characters and not some goody two-shoes kind. It is this initial phase that one has to get through patiently to enjoy the rest of the novel. This is the only part in the novel that may appear a bit dull, but soon after especially with the introduction of the character of Sam, everything changes. And it is fun to see our duo come out of their shell and even acknowledge, albeit reluctantly that what they are doing isn’t healthy.
The author has managed to regale the reader by placing many thought-provoking situations in her book. It is reflective in many ways; we need to think why we’ve become so defensive and scared in our life. Why does opening up our hearts scare us so much? Why do we run away from serious relationships? All her characters, be it even the uber suave Sam are essentially flawed characters and it is fun exploring their fears and insecurities.
There were several small things that I felt could have been outlined in a better manner. Regardless of that, I really enjoyed this book. I loved the modern take on relationships and friendships and the interplay of diverse emotions. I'd recommend it, especially if you're a YA fan.

While not my preferred genre of reading I got talked into reading this book and I must say I was hooked very early on and found it hard to put down. The story ended too soon and left me wanting more! It'll be easy to talk me into reading the next book.

It was such an easy read and had great character development. I loved it-especially the Sam character! Looking forward to part 2!

I truly loved this book! I've already read it multiple times and the first time was in a single stretch. The characters are so well developed that you'd swear they were real people. Cara Lee's personality flaws are so opaque that it's hard to believe a fictional character can stir so many emotions in you. It's refreshing to read a compelling romance story that doesn't need S&M or vampires (even though I enjoy some of those stories, too). If I had to come up with a real gripe, it would be that I wish all 3 books in the series were already available so that I could read them back to back. You can tell that the story is just ramping up by the end of book I.
